🔧 Nokia XR20 Charging FPC Replacement Guide (Step-by-Step for Repair Shops & DIY)

The Nokia XR20 is built like a tiny brick, but charging issues still happen—usually because the charging FPC (the flex cable that carries power) gets damaged. Here’s a clear four-step repair guide that keeps things simple and safe.

🛠 Tools You’ll Need

• Polar Tech Magic Self-Heating Pad 

• Polar Tech Phone Repair Toolkit (Isopropyl alcohol ,Metal shim, Plastic pry card, Tweezers, Spudger, Precision screwdriver set)

1️⃣ Heat & Remove the Back Cover

Start with powering the phone off.
Usea Polar Tech Magic Self-Heating Pad to warm up the back cover — about 8–10 minutes is usually enough to soften the adhesive.

Once heated, slide a thin metal blade or pry tool into one edge to create the first gap.
Add a little isopropyl alcohol into the gap — it helps loosen glue.

Switch to plastic picks and slowly work your way around the frame.
Important: The charging flex runs along the right side, so keep your depth shallow there to avoid damage（Even though this is the part we’re replacing）.

2️⃣ Internal Cover Removal & Battery Disconnect

Inside, you’ll see a series of protective plastic covers and quite a few screws — around 18 in total.
Keep them organised (recommend a magnetic screw mat).

Remove the main shield first.
Always disconnect the battery first — this prevents shorts and accidental power to the board.

Next, remove:

• The speaker box

• The small plastic plates covering the charging FPC area

Once exposed, unplug the charging FPC connector.
Everything should lift easily. If something doesn’t, there’s usually one more screw hiding somewhere — don’t force it.

3️⃣ Install the New Charging FPC

There are usually two small screws holding the charging FPC in place. Remove these.
Lift the flex gently; if it’s slightly stuck, that’s normal — there may be light adhesive underneath.

Line up your replacement charging FPC in the exact same orientation.
Reconnect the connector, reinstall the two screws, and ensure the flex sits flat and isn’t bent or twisted.
Then reinstall:

• Speaker module

• Lower shielding plates

Take a moment to look over everything — neat and flat is good; uneven or pinched is bad.

4️⃣ Reassemble & Test

Reconnect the battery.
Reinstall the large plastic mid-shield and all screws.
Before sealing the back cover, test charging:

• Plug in your charger

• Look for the charging icon / battery ramp

• Power on the phone to confirm touch and display function

If charging is stable, clean the frame edges and press the back cover back into place.
If the adhesive no longer holds strongly, apply a thin bead of B7000 or T7000 adhesive and clamp lightly while it sets.

📝 Final Notes

If the phone still doesn’t charge after replacing the charging flex, the issue may be the USB port or power IC on the mainboard. That requires board-level repair equipment.
