Fixing the “No SIM Detected” Issue on the ASUS ROG Phone 6 Pro

If your ROG Phone 6 Pro suddenly stops recognising SIM cards, don’t panic. It’s not your telco’s fault — it’s likely the SIM reader board saying goodbye. Let’s bring it back to life.

This beast of a phone is built for gaming glory, but even legends need a pit stop sometimes. Here’s how you can replace the SIM reader board yourself, safely and smartly.

🛠 Tools You’ll Need

  • Polar Tech Magic Self-Heating Pad

  • Polar Tech Phone Repair Toolkit (Isopropyl alcohol ,Metal shim, Plastic pry card, Tweezers, Spudger, Precision screwdriver set)

🔥 Step 1: Heating and Removing the Back Cover

Power off the phone completely.
Use a Polar Tech Magic Self-Heating Pad to warm up the back cover for about 10 minutes — this loosens the adhesive.
Once warm, slip a thin metal blade or a plastic pick under the glass. Add a few drops of isopropyl alcohol along the edges to make separation easier.
Work slowly — the back cover is glass, not bulletproof!

Be extra careful on the LED side; there’s a thin flex cable under there. Disconnect it gently once lifted.

🔧 Step 2: Removing the SIM Reader Board

Inside, you’ll see about 10 screws. Note the different lengths before removing them.

First thing — disconnect the battery BTB connector.
Remove the small board shield, the vibration motor, and the SIM tray.
Then unplug all the flex and signal cables one by one.

Finally, lift out the SIM reader board — that’s our target part.

⚙️ Step 3: Installing the New Board

Before you drop the new board in, push the SIM eject pin back into place — this ensures proper alignment.

Install the new board carefully, making sure no cables are trapped underneath.
Reconnect all eight connectors and the signal line, then reinstall the metal bracket and tighten the screws back.

Reconnect the battery BTB last.

✅ Step 4: Reassembling and Testing

Reconnect the back cover’s flex cable and test power on — your SIM should now be detected.

Once confirmed, seal the back cover and clamp it for two hours to ensure proper adhesion.

Don’t forget to insert the SIM tray before calling it done.

Final Thoughts

Your ROG Phone 6 Pro is back in action — ready for more gaming, more victories.
Always remember: patience is your best tool.
