đ§ ZTE Optus X Plus Teardown Guide
The ZTE Optus X Plus is an entry-level 4G phone sold through Optus, and todayâs teardown shows exactly how this little device is held together. Just a clean, practical, step-by-step look at how to open it and remove the major components.
đ Tools Youâll Need
-
Polar Tech Magic Self-Heating PadÂ
- Polar Tech Phone Repair Toolkit (Isopropyl alcohol ,Metal shim, Plastic pry card, Tweezers, Spudger, Precision screwdriver set)
1ïžâŁ Removing the Back Cover (No Heat Needed)
Start by powering off the phone and ejecting the SIM tray.

The back cover uses a simple clip-on design, so heat isnât needed this time. Slip a pry tool or thin blade into the edge to create a gap, then work your way around the whole frame.
When the last clip pops free, the cover lifts off and the internal layout appearsâantenna strips around the frame, battery dead centre, and shields over the boards.

2ïžâŁ Unscrewing & Disconnecting Internal Components
Grab your magnetic mat because there are twelve screws in this frame, and one of them hides in the corner waiting to escape.
Once the screws are out, disconnect the battery firstâitâs always the safest move.

Remove the shield covering the sub-board and take note of how the flex cables run across the centre of the device. Everything is fairly compact but laid out logically.
3ïžâŁ Removing the Battery (The Stubborn Stage)
Hereâs where the real workout begins.
This LCD model canât safely handle alcoholâany seepage can cause permanent screen watermarksâso heat is the only option. Warm the back slightly, then start prying from both sides with a metal tool to spread the pressure evenly.

The adhesive is tough, and the battery barely reacts at first. Give it another round of heat, try again, and eventually it starts to lift. A few more careful pushes and the battery finally gives up.
4ïžâŁ Disconnecting the Boards & Clearing Out the Remaining Parts
With the battery gone, disconnect the remaining flex cables.
Two screws secure the mainboard. Remove those, then detach the coaxial cable running down to the lower section.

The bottom loudspeaker lifts out, and the earpiece sits at the top. Once each component is removed, youâre left with a clean layout of parts ready for inspection or replacement.
The device ends up in what repair techs lovingly call the âfamily photoââevery part neatly arranged like theyâre posing for a catalogue.

That completes the teardownâsimple in structure, stubborn in the battery area, but otherwise friendly enough. Perfect for repairs, parts harvesting, or just a peek inside an Aussie budget phone
